Most of the people, when they hear about a sapphire, imagine it as a sparkling blue stone. But most gemstone lovers who have been studying the world of gemstones online and offline know that there is a white sapphire too, known in India as safed pukhraj. This one is a totally transparent, hard-surfaced stone with a dazzling sparkle, but has so far been only looked at as a cheaper alternative, though equally effective, for a precious diamond. Not just by the look, but by physical properties and durability too, it is similar to that of a diamond.
